Learning Theories

I haven't had an opportunity to go down to Blackridge Elementary yet, but in my Intro to Elementary Education class we have been talking about the different learning theories in Elementary Education. There are actually a few that I agree with and really like, those ones include:
  • Constructivism: Students learn by doing, rather than by being told.
  • Behaviorism: Positive Reinforcement
  • Multiple Intelligences: Humans have several ways of processing information (musical, visual, verbal, logical, etc.)
I know that for me learning, especially learning for dance I am very visual and learn by doing/performing the movement. I first like to be shown, explained how to do it (verbally), and then given the opportunity for me to try and execute it. It makes me feel good and confident if I have my teacher tell me "That was executed well", "Good job Calli". It lets me know that I am doing it right, and that I'm doing it well.

What I am kind of picturing and imagining what my teaching style(s) will be is a combination of these things because it's what worked for me and I think that these are all great and effective things that most, if not everyone should use.
