Have you decided whether or not to be a professional teacher?
I can confidently say yes I have, I really think that this is a career that I would really enjoy, and potentially be really great at. I am excited to go even farther into this program and learn everything I possibly can. I loved Elementary School and I did have a lot of fun learning, making friends and all the fun activities we did.
Do you think this career path for you?
Yes. I love kids and working with them, I know that I can make a difference in these kids lives. At least, that's my hope, to make a difference to everyone I can. Whether it's getting them excited to learn, or inspiring them. I also want to be a fun teacher, making most, if not every lesson engaging and enjoyable.
Has Service Learning affected your decision?
I think that given the opportunity to go down to an Elementary School and actually be there, in the field, in the classroom and see these kids. I love seeing the different types of students, how they are all friends at this age because there is no judgement, not with what you wear, or if you make a mistake answering a question.
What are your next steps?
My next steps are to continue with this program. I have been thinking about where I want to teach and live in the future, but I haven't quite decided yet because I till have a long time before I need to make any decisions on that. There is a part of me that wants to move to Seattle, I went there for a choir tour trip in High School and I loved it there. Everything about it, Seattle has everything; the water, green trees, I actually love the weather there too. It would be nice to have a little more sun, but that's what vacations are for! I think I would want to raise my kids in Utah, my family is here, I was born and raised in Utah and I find it to be a safe place. But again, we'll see what happens when we get there, it'll also depend on my husband and what he wants. We'll make that decision together.
